  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Lightmeter anyone?

Sascha. I'm thinking of selling my 758 pm me if you wanna make an offer.

Thx timur ... A very cool and informative blogpost (and the drawings aint bad either ;-) ... One question: what do you think about the 5 degree spotmeter addon for the 478? Usable or is this angle to big?

ryan: thanx ... if i decide for a 758 ill come definitely back on your offer. Why do you sell it ... Got a new one or just not using a lightmeter at all

I am very fond of my 758 cine for both spot metering slides and metering for video and the professionals I work with (I haven't been able to work in camera recently, unfortunately) often have Sekonics, however most of them recommend Spectras instead as they are more accurate and the industry standard.

With digital cameras the spot meter is less necessary than it once was. You have zebras. So a good incident meter might be all you need. That said, I personally love the 758 cine, I just know it's not considered professional grade by those who demand really accurate readings and the Spectra incident meters are cheaper. Though you can get it calibrated and that might split the difference. Just what I've experienced and what I've been told. Never used the new Sekonic, but it looks nice.

5 degrees is a bit wide. but it does make it mighty flexible.

You might also want to check out the latest release from Seconic. It looks really as a great tool.
