  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Lighting Setup Question

Alternatively use HDRx. Set the exposure for outside on the second track and inside on the main track. You will need to dissolve between them in post but this can be done easily and to your specification. May need to add some motion blur at the beginning. This is a no cost option and you can test the process using your own front door!

I guess I'm most concerned with what happens once he's past the tenants at the front of the warehouse and is in the open space. Do I keep moving the lighting to accommodate each portion of the shot? I know I'm limited here and will have to probably shoot wide open correct?
If you have no budget, I would use one of your 300w on a 5 dollar China ball with a dimmer and 216 in that little hole on the bottom. Gut a c-plus c-stand for your boom. I think the medium size China ball is the one that will fit behind the slots for barn doors on a ARRI 300w. Or it might of be the 650w, but I believe it's the 300w lens is the same diamintor as a medium China opening. The practicals and the other 300w can light the background, and maybe mess with some of that ceiling lights to accent some stuff. you could also prob get away with a 650w becoming a back light in the tail end of the shot. Judging by the distance and height, just a kiss of it is what you want for just enough separation.

If i was in your place, i would probably suggest shooting a lot of cutaways and details. that way, with some dynamic editing you can probably hide some of your lightning problems.

Try getting a white paper china ball from your home depo store. Ask your friends to help out and let them cary it on that long tracking shot.

Yea, same thing as a sound guy would do but with a China ball.
