Lighting - NAB '15 Anything New and Interesting ?

Meryem,

I am thinking about getting one of their (Blindspot) kits. Can you elaborate on your experience with these lights? Are they pretty sturdy? I like them for their portability but that means they will log a lot of miles. Appreciate any info you can provide.

Another interesting one that slipped through the cracks (I don't know why, because high-output LEDs are a genuine game-changer for location shooting) is the new Nila Arina (http://nila.tv/arina/). 800w draw, with equivalent output to a 2.5k HMI or 6k Tungsten fixture. It's also a fraction of the size of Nila's previous big boy the SL.

Only issue is that they aren't posting any colour/spectral data on the light (which these days sadly tends to mean there's something to hide on that front). Fingers-crossed it can reach 90+ on the TLCI - that would trump HMI's colour performance and make the light VERY appealing.

No way that slipped through the cracks. I was actually pretty impressed by the Arina's output and newer slender design compared to the older SL.

Also worth noting on the LED front are the newer Lite panel 1x1 Astras. More output on the single temperature daylight units. Nice update to the line with newer LED and lens tech. So much so that I'll likely use them now.
