Hey guys, I'm a long time reader of REDUSER, first time poster. Funny, I've read these posts so often, felt intimidated to join the conversation...till now. I think the announcement of Scarlet has helped me feel like I can belong. My production company Astronaut (which I run with two partners) is seriously considering buying one or two.

Anyway. Let me introduce you to my most successful RED shoot ever. It was a music video we did for for MTV.com, that -- to our surprise -- shot up to #1 on MTV.com within two weeks. Beating out other SUPERSTAR acts like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyonce, etc. It was a delirious couple of weeks for us. The video went on to be on the "MOST WATCHED" tab on MTVu.com for the next 6 months.

We shot it on the RED MX, with Zeiss Super Speeds. My great friend, and longtime collaborator, Alex Baev DP'd. We shot on a rooftop in Chelsea, in Manhattan. And also in a dive bar in Williamsburg called "Trash Bar". Shot over two days.

I am a HUGE fan of RED. I love how it looks. I love what Scarlet promises. I'm a director/producer myself, working a lot in TV, but I'm obsessed with lenses and production. I own over 18 Contax Zeiss lenses, that I use lovingly on my two DSLR's for my own, smaller projects.

Anyway. So happy to be posting on REDUSER. Looking forward to getting to know all of you. I hope you enjoy the video. We worked hard on it, and look forward to sending out to festivals this winter. If you have any suggestions of good fests, please let me know.

THANKS ALL!

Nicely done! And congrats on your well-deserved success.

Thanks Luc. Ha! Success is a relative word. The video never really picked up off outside of MTV.com, and nothing ever really "happened" if you know what I mean. I guess you just gotta shoot more right?! I see you quoting Kubrick on your signature. Just finished reading "Eyes Wide Open". Have you read it? Totally awesome. Amazing window into Kubrick's mind, and approach to film making.

PS Thanks Brandon for the kind words! Yeah, that rooftop shoot was soooo much fun. It was actually the office space for a graphic house in NYC that I used to work with. They moved out, but I went over there anyway and asked the NEW tenants if I could still shoot on their rooftop. We did a bit of horsetrading and to my surprise, they let me do it. Has incredible panoramic views around 23rd street. Super fun. I think the band got inspired too, helped them get into "the act".

Again, appreciate the kind words.

Wow, I love the video and the music.

This is a first for me here.

Great Job.

Wow, thanks Michael so much. Yeah it helped...A LOT...that the song is actually good. MTV hand selected the track and asked the label to have a video made. So clearly people had faith in it. It's a shame it never "took off", cuz we all worked so hard to take Super Stereo to the next level. But you can't control those things. All you can do is your job, technically as well as you can, try and connect to the audience with the product your're making, and move on to the next one!

But thanks again for the kind words. Means a lot.
