Hi all,

Anyone aware of a database library tool to hold track of all your footage?
Something where you can tag and perform quick-searches on your clips.
Thanks!

FCP X can actually be incredible for this task. I'm not an editor by any means, but as a shooter I love to be able to reference all of my footage when I need to. FCP X lets you generate proxies of footage, so that you have lightweight, always accesible version to visually see your footage, and then you just need to reconnect the appropriate volume to get back to the R3D. Apple offers a 30 day trial. Give it a whirl.

Hi Harry, thanks for your input!
I have always used FCPX but am about to migrate to CS6.
In my personal opinion FCPX doesn't entirely "cut" the job for R3D files.
I do use the tagging system it offers but think it is too limited.
I do think however it's a great NLE and will suggest it to anyone with a Mac and HD clips.
For RAW files I think it lacks power and integrated solutions.
For grading it also misses power and versatility.
These are all my personal opinions and, admitted, I LOVE the ease of use and intuitive usage of FCPX...
Thanks Harry!
