You'd be safer with the 600x times version.
If you speak with someone knowledgeable at BH, they should
have many reviews/customers who purchased those items to comment
on its usage with RED.

Anything but the 300x is not guaranteed to work....

Interesting, Gunleik. Can you explain why or give a link? Especially interesting since Lexar now has 32GB cards in 300x, 400x and 600x. I'll be considering these options when the time comes to purchase Scarlet Fixed. BTW, thanks for your thoughtful posts.

The Lexar 8GB 300x = the Red 8GB (The RED 8GB even has the Lexar logo on them...)

Edit:
Some reported success with the Lexar 300x 16GB with the same recording limitations as for the 8GB.

But I think this may have been locked out in the current firmware.

If you try to record to an "unapproved" card, it will not let you record above 2k...

Some original RED 8GB CF cards were made by Lexar, but were not the same as sold to the market under their label.

I agree regarding 300x cards. Had them for almost 3 years and used extensively, never had an issue.
400x has better read and write speeds than 300x. Theoretically, it should be capable of keeping up to huge amounts of data Red writes, isn't it?
Thanks

What do you consider huge amounts of data? Certainly not enough for EPIC. Not close. But an acceptable substitute for Lexar 300X cards? Probably. But no guarantees.

Thanks Jim. For EPIC, I would go with Red SSD. Till I get EPIC, I need to be able to run with CF and Red drive.
Compared to Lexar 300x, 400x has 60 MB/sec where as 300x has only 45 MB/sec. I don't quite understand what other factor than write speed affects the usability.
Thanks

We have posted on several threads that the specs given by the manufacturers doesn't necessarily mean (and usually does NOT mean) that the cards will go constant record at the named specs. It has been very frustrating for us testing all these cards and seeing what is real vs. what is published. I guess if you can hold a spec for one second, that must count. It certainly doesn't in our book.

Try searching for some of these threads. Deanan has also commented extensively on this problem since he is in charge of it. Seems like we did a follow up fairly recently...
