  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Lexar 8GB CF cards $90 after rebate!

I'm thinking those are not officially supported and definitely not for the higher frame rates/compression settings. But we've had success with them.

Noah

How about the Sandisk 8GB Extreme IV CF -- 40 MB/SEC, should work? $90 each with rebate.

While speed wise they may work, RED, I know, disabled some other third party cards. The Lexar cards in this thread are the same cards as the RED cards so you don't have to worry about them getting disabled. I am super happy with mine and have had no issues with them.

They're not shipping yet but we have ordered them to test.

At only $210 the A DATA Turbo 350x 16GB cards seems great.

I hope they work.

Please keep us in the loop Deanan.

Thanks!

Deanan has no earthly reason I can think of to keep us in the loop, unless he wants to watch his company fail while he stands by and shouts: YES THEY WORK AND COST 1/2 as much as we are going to charge for ours!!

PLEASE DEAR CUSTOMERS GO BUY THEM!!

I mean, they are not our best friends at RED. The "open" policy IS amazing but I don't think I would go as far as to ask Deanan to "keep me in the loop" on 3rd party products unless you want him to tell you a lie like "nope they don't work...far to slow, buy ours and be safe dear customers" LOL

All in good humor,

Obin,

I was thinking exactly that as I was typing my contribution to the thread...

HOWEVER, on second thought...

I think Jim stated that RED is not in the business of making CF cards. While for other products that certainly may be the case, I think that once RED finds out that a particular 16Gb card works, they will let us know. They don't want to expand into that market as they have their heads full with a myriad of other stuff.

I'm almost sure that this card will work, as it's 350x (not 300x). Call me naive, but I'm waiting for the official confirmation. At $210, that opens new possibilities for us redusers.

All in good humor, eh? Your post is beyond humor.

Looks like I can cancel the Adata order now that you're going
to test them. To bad though because we were looking forward
to a cheaper 16GB card.

This company(A-DATA)'s tech support agreed to test their 350x-16g CF card with our RED ONE on next week.
I will post the result as soon as I can.

Sheesh...calling someone a lier, even if it is in jest is not cool. Sarcasm doesn't translate. If I were Deanan, I'd block Obin from the boards. But thats just me, and I'm clearly old-school feeling that respect and professionalism have a place in a vendor's forum.

Just got my $90 8GB Lexar Cards :-D Now just need the RED... :-/
