  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Letus Gimbal

We have seen 18 hour days for the last countless weeks. I am not too concerned about getting working unit stable, I am very concerned about getting a unit that keep working stable for a long time. I have heard stories after stories that the most reputable gimbal system keeps getting sent in for service. I am not saying we won't do that, but we want to minimize it.

As we are assembling all units, if we found a more robust way to improve the long-term working order for the unit, we would make that improvement for all the finished units and so far, we have assembled and reassembled at least 4 times per unit.

As we stand right now, am sending out bunch of units today and it will be really fast after we finalize the process, and look like we do. On the bright side, once the process is finalized, we will get to all RU GB in less than 10 days.

After that, I am thinking about arranging a tour around the country to help first time gimbal users as it's very sophisticated system and only the one who has used a gimbal before appreciate how much easier our system is, but still, it's very sophisticated. Please help me arrange a group of 5-10 people in an area and I will fly there myself to train. For those who cannot make it to the meeting, I will set up an one on one video conference to walk you through. As you already know, other gimbal companies charge to do this or don't offer it at all. We do this in hope that you will help junior users in later time.

I am thinking about: Seattle, Bay Area, Los Angeles, Texas, Chicago, New York to start. Wyoming and Idaho probably video conferencing, LOL.

PS: Aaron just passed along my estimates to you guys so don't beat him up :-)

I'll be there when you make it to Texas =)

Definitely count me me in for NY demo! Thanks Hien!! And thanks so much for all the hard work!

Hi Hienie,

We have a green screen stage in Oakland just off the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge. If you're looking for space, we would love to host a gathering in our studio when you come to the Bay Area. Steadicam and jib here to demo with as well.

Nothing these days is ever "final" insofar as communication is widespread and instantaneous, and companies have to keep ahead of competition. Being willing to change, update, upgrade is important to a company's success. Ask RED. It is never "done."

Trends in business call for continuous improvement of the product, rapid prototyping, customer involvement, etc. The latest business management technique is called Minimum Viable Product (MVP) whereby you get a product into the market that will compete favorably but hasn't yet thoroughly finished development. I don't think that is what Hien and his crew at Letus were intending to do, but he is a very astute and open-minded business man and by getting the designs out to interested folks on REDuser and then getting early production units into the hands of a few real customers, they have accomplished what this technique was designed to do; they have seeded the market with people invested in their success and they have gotten extremely valuable feedback so they can continue to iterate their product development.

Which brings us to now. I spent a few days with my unit and, in that time, a few improvements were made in Portland. Wisely, they called my unit back right away to make these tweaks sooner rather than later. Zeb is in the same boat only he traveled to Portland to do it all first hand! Letus has also taken the large amount of feedback they have received into account for developing the next model of the product, the larger capacity unit which they already alluded to at NAB but which I can't yet talk about. They are also applying many of these improvements to the base unit that current buyers will receive. And, they are actively working on the software end which is where a whole lot of exciting things will happen.

If you have an order in for a Helix, you are joining the team. And... IMO, you won't be sorry; you will love the product and you will enjoy the ride. This is a piece of equipment that just "feels right" when you hold it. You are buying into a system and this is just the beginning.

Yup

Hien,

I just took the plunge and completed my order. Count me in for your Brooklyn (I mean NY demo). Back in the day, you got me started with L Extreme adaptor. It'll be good to see you in the flesh.

If you do Seattle I'm in. Preordered batch #2

I would be happy to host a Helix demo session for the Upper Midwest, whether it was here in Grand Rapids or in Chicago. We are 2 hours from Chicago, 2 hours from Detroit, and we have some of the best craft beer in the country!!

Thanks for your offer Paul, let's plan on that.

I put down a deposit...and waiting to hear back about completing order...would I be batch #2? Or a later batch? Just trying to get a sense of schedule! Can't wait! So excited!

Time for me to cook my meal with wine tonight and celebrate the occasion with sweet words.
I finally got my tracking # (lol),

Thanks to letus and Team

Mine is about to arrive in a few hours... so stoked!

I'm in northwest Florida, so I would try my best to make Texas (especially if it's Houston, as I have access to free accommodations there.) If Atlanta were on the table, that's a no brainer as it's less than a six hour drive for me. I'd also do anything in Florida, even south Florida, if the location of buyers made that a viable option.

And let me state the obvious: the offer you are making here, Hien, is beyond awesome. But I'm coming to expect that from you now.:-)

P.S. I also will use any excuse to go to NY, so if none of the southeast locations pans out, I'd probably just as soon hit a training session in NY as anywhere.

Heine, I already have my order in so when you want to come to Nashville let me know! We can set up a demo here! Fingers crossed that I get a order number soon. Shooting a 5 day corporate shoot on the 14 th and was hoping for it but hey, I appreciate that you all care to get it right. Just like my first letus lens adapter that gave me that film look on my ex1 back in the day!!
