  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Letus Gimbal

Awesome

We need to tune the trim for the joystick, we didn't tune at all. If the joystick was disabled, the high and low mode needs no adjustments. Not at all. It's the joystick that make the thing drifting, not only on roll, but also on pan.

Given Caleb's comments above, the video of Hien at Cinegear and my day of examining motion with Vince Laforet, I am biting at the bit to get one of these in my hands!!!

Nice write-up, Caleb. Much appreciate you taking the time to weigh in. It's great to get this kind of feedback from people who were able to attend Cinegear. Super helpful and encouraging.

BTW, Hien, good to see the Anamorphic Adaptor making a cameo appearance in that video.

That was the only "negative" I noticed as well, not that I thought it was something that couldn't or wouldn't be fixed. But that low to high thing where you effectively swap pan and tilt axes and boom from low to high instantaneously is just too awesome for words.

Looks like the acceleration/deceleration of the joystick pans were a bit harsh in the video. Is there a way to tune these to smooth out the pans ?
Will there be a 'lock' mode to fix the gaze onto a orientation ? That, with a soft release of the lock ( not jerky ) would be a huge plus for me as well.
Thanks!

We won't dumb down the software so you all would have all those settings controlled.

Go to the web site and put your name on the email list to be notified when they are taking reservations again.

Their website is confusing. What is Helix ESS? Is that the version for redusers?
Edit: Nevermind. it's an acronym. Anyway so will there be a specific version of the Helix for DSMC cameras or would the same one work for a DSLR and DSMC?

At this point, there is only one version and it is the one suitable for Epic/Scarlet/Dragon and similar sized cameras, as well as DSLR. Letus has talked about a larger version for Alexa but there is nothing official yet.

If you sign up on the web site, you are simply adding yourself to the mailing list to be notified when they open up reservations again.

Thanks Terry. Signed up.

yep I did that
is there an eta of when batch 2 comes out?

You would probably do best to contact Letus directly for that info.

I can tell you, from personal experience, that they are beginning to take final payments for the first reservations as we speak!
