  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Letus Gimbal

I have a better solution then the belt clip, it is not included in the package, but for early adopters, it is.

You can select using the button on the back. Yes the auto tune is in the work.

Aaron will setup a private chat room so all the early adopters will have a private conversation with us. NDA will be needed as we will disclose a lot of cool stuff.

You guys are so cool.:-) I'm as excited about the Helix as I am about seeing Vince Carter (whom I've followed faithfully his whole NBA career) get the ball with 1.7 seconds left and drain a fallaway 3 at the buzzer to give the Mavs a one point win over the Spurs. And that's pretty excited.:-)

Deposit made despite the fact that I was unable to see the Helix when I was at NAB. I saw mentioned earlier in this thread something about touring some cities. Before release I hope? I would really like to have some hands-on time with this rig before finalizing transaction. Any chance you'll be in the San Francisco Bay Area in the near future? As a Steadicam operator, I volunteer my services as a Beta tester for the Steadicam mode configuration. At the very least, we really need to see more examples of clips shot in different configurations beyond the impromptu footage we've seen from the Las Vegas night club....;-)

I used Paypal checkout to pay for the deposit, but it isn't showing up as being charged after a day. One the Letus account status, it says 'Holding for Verifcation'
Is that normal ?

Men need more women like Elizabeth Lowrey ;-)

Sometimes I have this too, It would go through eventually. But I would PM Aaron to make sure you are 'on the list'. Because the payment theoretically isn't done yet.

Thanks for all of deposits everyone! We'll officially close this out tonight at midnight so we can get it opened up to the general public in a couple of days. A few of you have contacted me about making a deposit later in the week. If you can't get one in today yet, please PM me and let me know so we can make arrangements for you. We don't want anyone to miss out!

Hi Aaron,

Do you know when will we have these things?

1) The cost of the 4th axis
2) The availability of the 4th axis
3) More video of the product in action and footage taken with the product

Thanks!

Scott

Here is what I have so far:

1) Retail on 4th axis around $900 (but RU members will get a price cut)
2) 4th axis is scheduled to be released along with everything else
3) There is footage being shot in Portland as I type this... hope to have it edited and posted this week!

Any other questions, ask away! I'll answer what I can.

Great news on all counts!

Hi Guys at Letus!

I'm an avid reader of this forum and I'm following publications about your Helix since NAB. Let me tell you that you are Genius! Sometimes you surprises us with something revolutionary in it's simplicity and conception. Like time ago when you first delivered us the possibility of use our old good glass along with the videocams. Now the good idea of the gimbal stabilization seems that becomes way better thanks of your aproach. I want one so much!

Have some questions, may be you answer this allready
What if you use a wireless Follow Focus? Can you make it balance the same? How can it be powered?
What happens with zooms, is it impossible due to change in weight position? What happens with your own Ana adapter (I want the 1:1,8 so much!) that adds a lot of weight in the front, is it possible to balance that much weight in front?

I'm writing a Pm right now

Thanks for the kind words! Here are some answers for you:

You can use a wireless follow focus. Just balance with the rest of the camera. Depending on the unit, you could power it from the raw power pass through or an optional 5v power pass through (that takes the place of the HSDI).

Zoom lenses can be used. Although it does change the front to back balance, the motors are strong enough to compensate for the change when zooming in and out.

The current Helix should be able to handle an AnamorphX adapter if your intermediate lens is short. You don't want the weight sticking too far forward of the camera body.

Can the unit be taken apart and re-assembled fairly easily for travel?

Is a custom case available that is safe for checking onto an airline?

It's pretty easy to break down. The easiest way on the 3 axis is to drop the non-powered handle down. Rotate the camera around and lay the whole thing flat into a case.

We are working on a custom case for it. More details on that coming soon.

Hi Aaron, just wondering where you have been putting the touchscreen monitor when using the helix?
The video from NAB shows the camera body only.

cheers!

For the 3-axis model, I believe you can attach it to the non-motor left handle.
