I am starting to be convinced about the modularity of the system. LOL.
I have been one of the very first to use the Movi, when many tough it was a joke to use RC based Gimbals as a hand held stabilizing solution, and have since stressed over with many companies about their Gimbals, were some have listen, and some have gone silence...
Some will do MUCH better then others, and not do to my advises... But do to how they integrate and act or better said interact with their customers to be...
I have to say that besides an other unnamed company (at this point) the DJI Ronin, and the Letus Helix are absolutely in the most positive and innovating track to make this most likely some of the very best Gimbal products out there... Movi included... So congrats Hien!
I like buying into a "system" that can grow and evolve.
Another Vote,
Ok gang, we are going to close out the deposit/reservations this Monday for the RU members. We'll be releasing the Helix deposit program into the wild on Tuesday or Wednesday for the general public. Hien and I spoke this evening and discussed some additional benefits for all of you here who have been early, early adopters. Anyone who placed a deposit through the RU forum will be glad they did! Again, thank you all so much for your feedback and support. It means a lot to us!
Coming up. Just rigged a 4K Black Magic, just for the sake of Red community, threw in a cage so it matches the weight of a Red camera. Total system of 8lbs. Test shots looked good, but they had me moving around so they can track me. So you are not going to see it. LOLAgreed. Love to see some footage first. Thanks!!
If the group by is big enough, would you consider tightening up some of the arm dimensions to tailor a system to the smallest size specifically for the Red ( with side handle ) ?
I mocked up the design in CAD and I see it could be narrower. I was looking at rotation clearances.
Obviously this would only be practical if the quantity is enough, but the CAD change would take half an hour or less.
Are others interested in this ? Personally I want the absolute smallest/lightest handheld unit possible, as I am a run-N-gun shooter / one man crew in difficult shooting conditions. It would be a benefit of a group by for RED specific usage.
Just a thought.

Do consider the issue of handles coming into frame when using wide glass and fast turns...it's been a noticeable limitation on our MoVI & other gimbals I've tested.

How wide do you consider wide?
At the super-wide 10mm setting, my tripod is barely outside of the frame. At 22mm, the framing is similar to what many general purpose zoom lenses can deliver at their widest focal length - which is likely similar to the 17mm or 22mm examples.
How wide do you consider wide?
Wide is going to be subjective. I have an 8mm lens but I think that is pretty much a special situation lens and wouldn't see it as a practical need on the Helix. I guess, for me, 14mm on the s35 sensor would be plenty wide enough and I could probably be perfectly happy even at about 18.
Don't forget an 18 would have the FOV of a 15 on 6K Dragon. So ideally 16mm and up could be covered.
