  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Letus Gimbal

How do we control the software for different behaviors? For example in one case I might want the horizon to be rock steady and in another I might want it to smoothly roll with my movements.

It's a base cam (alexmos) control board so you can set different profiles in the software. The Basecam software / GUI

I thought 3 was too good to be true, but it does look like you cut a lot away.

Can we assume that the silence in the conversation here is all of us holding our breath awaiting more information from hienle?

I'm keen to know more about group buy options and availability timelines and of course some more footage from the rig itself.

Top slip-ring passthrough ports: HD-SDI in, 8-18v Power out (optional HD-SDI replaced with 5v power out)

Looks like if you're committed to all wireless workflow...you can get a 5v power for it by losing the HD-SDI.

None fo the configs shown in the pics would securely attach the rig to a Steadicam and yet provide tilt-stabilization. You need to design a base that attaches securely to a Steadicam sled, which is front-to-back not side-to-side in its greater length.

So far the only secure way to use this gimbal I can see is to use only the horizon/roll axis - which is fine - that's the most frequently encountered problematic axis, but it means that us Steadicam ops will never buy or be happy with the larger product.

Hi all. We are working on setting up a way for users here to reserve a Helix before the general public. We'll kick in a bit of incentive too as a thank you for the support. Hien will continue to handle the tech questions but I'll be point man on getting reservations setup for you all.

A very special welcome, Aaron!! If you've read through this thread, you know we are all pretty excited about the Helix system! Any and all info you can provide is appreciated.

Thanks for the welcome guys! Bob, I was wondering where you vanished to at NAB.

Aaron,
Welcome to reduser. Good to know that you guys have segregated the roles. Given the number of people interested here, it would become a burden for one person to handle both the tech as well as the administrative side. Look forward to hearing from you about the availability, special pricing and other details.

Some pictures to help your imagination how it's used with just the arm and the vest (no sled)
