I've been saving for the Red-One for a while now, and just noticed on their website that the camera has gone up $7,500.oo from it's previous 2010 cost.

In order to be able to afford one of these fine cameras by March, I'm afraid I'm going to have to trim down the package I was hoping to get. Therefore, I'd like to equip it with a less expensive monitor in place of the 7" Red Monitor I was originally planning for it.

Does anyone know of a good 7", camera-mountable, LCD monitor that will suffice for around $1,000.oo or less? If so, please give me the name, model, etc.

Thanks for your help.

How about a good, used RED 5.6" monitor? The vast majority of RED One users. . . including us. . . currently have one on their cameras. It isn't 7 inches, but it is a great little monitor.

Thanks, and that's a thought, but it's still way over $1,000.oo, and I'd prefer a 7" if possible.

And, "used" Red equipment is not something I'm to keen on, because I really just don't trust others to take care of equipment as well as I do.

Check out the SmallHD DP-6. Great monitor...less than $1000 if you get the HDMI model.
Peace,

Have you thought about buying an Epic-S (the old Scarlet 35) instead of Red One? It could maybe lower the price, and you have a potentially better camera.

Of course there is no garantee that you can have it in March...

Epic-S ?? I must have missed something. Never heard of it. Unless, of course, you are referring to the new, up, and coming Scarlet. But, who knows when THAT will be released. I'm running out of patience waiting for the Scarlet. Yes, it would meet my needs BETTER than a RED-One, but I can't wait forever.

Where do I find the specs and info on the Epic-S camera?

Thanks.

Too small; just too small. I'm aware of that monitor, and it looks like a good one, but just too small for my purposes.

Thanks.

Try it. It's small but so significantly sharper than the competition that clients/AC's love it. We now us it as our "director's" monitor, replacing my 7" Nebtek 70hds.

Basically an 'Epic', with a price tag of 12.000 dollars and less framerate options than a 'normal' Epic X.

The reason that the RED One now costs more is that they are shipped with the Mysterium-X chip, and that they are now made in the US.

In a few months people will start trading in their RED Ones for their EPIC-X's, and I suspect that there'll be v. good offers on used LCDs just around that time.
