Am I the only one completely unable to use the proxies in FCP under Leopard? I've seen a Tiger quadcore play back H proxies just fine in a 2K Prores timeline, yet our Leopard chokes. Is this normal?

Proxies play just fine in our 8-core with Leopard.

Unfortunately, RedCine is very unstable on the same machine.

I haven't had RedCine crash once on my 8core mac pro with leopard...

That's terrific, Zac,

Please post your exact configuration, software levels, and cards.

but a much better workflow is to compress the proxie to ProRes, really fast...
then use crimson...

This is exactly what I'm doing, but why can't I use the damn proxies when another identical-except-for-OS-version machine can?

There is something off with your system then... I'm using a Dual Hackintosh and I can play _M proxies in Medium, and Redcine works great, other than re-installing it every other day, (but thats normal for everyone). I can play back in 1/4 medium realtime.

AND any proxies 'Rendered to Pro-res' will playback fine ON ANY INTEL MACHINE IN ANY TIMELINE, even a macbook. Dont be fooled. It has to be unrendered and playback in realtime, thats the catch.

I'm also on 10.5.1 Leopard using a 8600GT 512 w/ 4 GB RAM, If its still giving you trouble re-install the system, I re-install systems monthly or between projects. I'm also using Quicktime 7.3.1, Go download the package from Apple and install it after you install Mac os x. And never auto-update your software.

I have NEVER reinstalled RedCine. I have zero problems with the actual software. I still can't believe it's beta.
I can play back at Full Res Medium.

But my mac "can beat up all other macs":gun:

This is what I noticed in the Mythbusters clip; I'll test and see if that's the secret sauce.
