  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

LEO @ ISO 2000

I still cannot get over how much the noise looks like film grain. I mean this has been a problem video has had for years, and I think RED just solved the problem.

You guys deserve some time to celebrate for this amazing achievement, but PLEASE get Scarlet and Epic out ASAP! I would have been pleased if Scarlet looked like a 2/3" Build 16 Mysterium, but now I really can't wait for Scarlet!

I am absolutely impressed with that, wow. That is fantastic. Really thanks for sharing that. As some have already mentioned, the noise that is there looks more film like than a lot I have seen. And the fact no noise reduction was run on it, wow.

Wow. Beautiful clean image. I would love to shoot a film with this camera. Will the new Scarlet S35 have similar image quality?

Same image quality in Scarlet S35.

Amazing. I cannot wait to purchase one with an 18-85mm zoom. You guys have done an incredible job and have completely changed the landscape, not only for how films are shot, but for how other companies have to think in order to stay in the game.

Just fantasic!!...

But I'm getting a bit lost...
What are the differences between Scarlet S35, Epic S35 and Red One S35 with Mx??...

Antoine

Features... including frame rates, REDCODE data rates and other capabilities.

Please don't release Scarlet or Epic ASAP... I need to ROI my MX upgrade first.. :)

Same image quality in Scarlet S35.

Hey Jim am I reading slightly more into your reply than need be, and if so thats why I'm asking. Will Scarlet 2/3 (Cinema) have the same image quality, or do the similarities of this shot end with the S35 model?

Jim, I'm trying to encode the ProRes 422 file to a Blu-ray compatible H.264 encode for Windows users (I'll mux it to .m2ts). This is because trying to view the file in Windows QuickTime results in some seriously wacked out gamma (I'm sure you've heard of the Mac --> Windows gamma issues).

Anyway, I'm trying to time between your stills and the ProRes download in After Effects. However, they don't quite match because of the blue in your stills. Jarred wrote that Michael Cioni is responsible for the finish. Am I to assume that by finish you mean he graded it to be have a little more brown color?

Just watched it. It looks amazing! The Mysterium X will give new possibilities to lighting. Such simple lighting a single match is!

Great job... who filmed this? I.e. what's it from... i.e. How'd you get Leonardo DiCaprio to be in the shot?

Read the 1st post (where you found the clip).

Ditto :-)

Besides, we now have a reincarnated Red! We have a whole new lease on waiting for Epic

Me thinks that Leo does not smoke cigars all that often. :sifone:

The shot really looks amazing.

Any chance we could get a frame grab from this in 4k?

Later,
Jason
