Hi everyone,

I was thinking of getting a set of lenses, and I must say I am very attracted by the Summicron-Cs (Tho the fact that they are T2 kinda makes me want to hold since I would like something with lower T-stops since the Dragon is not excellent in low light).

Anyways, I tried them, I was pretty satisfied, I also tried Summilux-Ms with the Leica Mount, and I had the pleasure to try the Summilux-C 35mm (Amazing).

Now, of course if I had double the budged I'd definitely go for the Summilux-Cs but do you guys have any suggestions (With proof eventually) of an alternative for a set of Summicron-Cs on the same price range?

Or always on the same price range, maybe 3 really good lenses instead of 6...

Thank you!

They look amazing and I'm sure everyone would love to own a set if they could afford them. I'm considering the Schneider Xenar III as I've heard amazing things

I love my Crons. Rental has been steadily increasing as more people experience how great they are. They breath much less than my Ultras and have a different look. Not better but different.

In the 100k range all lenses are great you just need to find what look is right for you.

Agreed. They are my favorite lenses of that size and speed.

Just shot some stuff using the Summi's T2.0s... thought I would share a few stills. (The flaring was done in camera....apologies if it offends)

I really liked them... I also had the Ange 19.5 - 95 on the shoot as well... thought they went together excellently... I originally thought I would shoot everything on the Ange but the Summis flared much better of course.

I love mine. Sharp, but nice character, bokah & micro contrast. Just finished a job where my DP made them shine. We intercut them with my Leica R's and you can't tell them apart. We used the Leica R's for focals we didn't have like 280mm, 100mm macros, etc. we flew a drone witha 35mm R for weight savings. We had one body built for EFI mount and one with PL. I'll try to find time to post a few stills. We just ffinished the grade today.

We shot 6k on all kinds of lighting situations-Int/ext, day/night, cars, crane... Mastered to 4k.

CA is only an issue occasionally but it's easily graded out. No issues on this shoot.

I have to say, the focus marks on the Summicron-Cs are not great. The focus rings are very smooth for helicoids, but the large gaps between 30'-15' on the 35-50-75mm bread-and-butter focal lengths is infuriating. I'm also not a fan of focus witness marks without corresponding numbers that are not intuitively obvious. It just speaks to Leica's lack of experience with making cinema optics. The Summilux-Cs also don't have parallax free witness marks, unlike all their main competitors. It is nice that they are all very close in size and weight, which does make a difference on Steadicam and gimbals. Personally, I prefer the Ultra Primes as I find them easier to work with, though the bokeh isn't quite as nice.

Mark, did you end up replacing your UPs with the 'Crons?
