Hi, i've read several treads about this but none of the given suggestions work at my end. My RED 18-50 PL Mount lens
is stuck in the Scarlet's PL adapter. Now i have removed the PL adapter from the camera. Its so tight no movement is possible.

I have tried heating the adapter and cooling it down in the freezer, using WD40 but its stuck as hell.

I have attached some pictures to clarify the situation. Hope someone can help me with this.

Suggestion:

Place the square flange area into a vise - with the lens pointed up.
Use pieces of wood (like door shims) between the metal surfaces to prevent any damage to the flange. Does not need to clamp too tightly as the direction of force you will apply is in the same plane.

Acquire a "Plumbers strap wrench". That will allow you to apply even pressure and enough torque on the ring without marring the finish.

Be sure to have someone hold onto the lens during removal.

NEVER spray WD40 around or into your lens mount ever again. Many issues - such as contamination - can ensue.
Strongly consider sending it in for a cleaning.

WD40 is bad.
What Brian say is fine. A strap wrench is exactly what you need. There are some for lenses and filters that may be usable.

I had once with a "intern" who didn't know PL meant Positive Lock. He was "opening" the mount the wrong side and lens got stuck.
It was a pain in the hands to take it out.

Now that the mount is off the camera make sure you don´t apply any torque force on the lens. Did you try to push / pull the lens towards the mount while applying gentle force on the mounts locking mechanism? As others already mentioned don´t use lubricates and also be very careful with heat as you might damage the electronics. See a lens technician or send it to RED before you risk great damage. Good luck!

Cheers
Ulf

Use the wrench that is used to remove an oil filter from a car. Very simple and cheap I've done it many times.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I just got it out of the freezer where it was for about 2 hours and it got lose immediately!
I'll archive all your input in case it happens again :-(

Be sure to follow up to remove any residual WD40 inside the mount - that will cause some long term problems.

I hope you bagged the lens before it went in the freezer. Freezing a lens can cause other problems, especially if it's left in for too long.

If you want piece of mind, next time you may want to send it to a professional. It's probably wouldn't be more than 1-hour worth of labor to get it out. I know that what we would have charged at Hot Rod Cameras.

before I would have done anything a rental house call would have been made.

Take it to your local gym and charge meat heads $5 per pop to "remove the lens".. winner gets refund.
