  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Lens help, I have no lens background

Whats the difference between a Zeiss Planar Lens and a Cine lens?

Planar referes to the glass formulation same as Distagon. Planar are and Distagons lenses are made for Stills and Cine work. But the new price difference between a stills lens and cine lens can be very large like for like speed. Its the meccanics that are the main difference and lack of barreling and breathing on the cine lens.

1. When using the Canon mount, are the experienced users going with the titanium or the aluminum?

2. I also shoot a lot of green screen that is within 8-12 feet of the camera. Is there a graphic or an application that would show the field of view for different focal lengths when used at 4K, 5K (for stills) - so that I could figure out the rectangle that would be visible for different focal lengths at X feet from the camera? I'm a bit terrified of making the wrong lens choice!

Thanks!

If the cine lens does not breathe & the still one does it's not down to mechanics, it's a totally different design as it's actually a zoom lens, the zoom aspect prevents breathing.
