So we have a couple EF lenses we use for personal work as well as jobs with no rental budget. I hate them, but they work in a pinch. Something that drives me insane though, is that the ef 50mm 1.4 is too short for our follow focus to connect to when the follow focus is on the left side of the camera, so basically we have to put it on backwards so that its on the right side, but then it gets in the way of our handle and battery compartment etc. Im wondering if anyone knows of some kind of extension that would connect to literally just push the lens farther away so that the focus ring of the lens farther away from the body. So annoying and I would be pumped if such a beast existed.

For the $$ you would spend on such an adapter (which to my knowledge doesn't exist) you could just buy a 50mm prime that better suits your needs. I use a 50mm 1.2 L series with my FF on a regular basis, and the spacing is just fine. I think it's pretty important to work with lenses you don't "hate".

If you move the lens further out from the sensor it will not focus properly. If you put optics in between you will change the nature of your lens.

Buy a new lens or a new follow focus.

That's why you need an EFF- perfect example. you drive the lens by wire so location of any ring is irrelevant
never waste a good thread :001_tongue:

thanks everyone, I figured anything adapter wise would change optical behavior. Ill just gut it out til we can get some new lenses, or a better follow focus.
