hi all, i've been hearing alot about how damage to the lens data cable voids the warranty which sucks but is totally understandable, however i haven't heard how much it is to replace one if it is damaged and what about if you own one of the cameras that was approved to have the birger mount on without voiding the warranty. anyone unlucky enough to have an idea of the replacement costs?

Thanks a bunch

You can fix the idata cable like any other wire, but since it's close to the sensor it's tricky.

We have damaged our sensor cable because the screws that hold the sensor decided to get loose one day for no reason whatsoever as we handle the camera with great care. I was really pissed, half the screws were loose, a very strange phenomenon. At that point I didn't know what it was and decided to leave it alone.

Next thing you know the lens cable got entangled and damaged during the back focus procedure...

We lost our warranty way before that event so I took the camera apart and put it back together... which you have to do in order to detach the cable from a sensor board, solder it up and put the whole thing back together. Its a tricky process but no different to taking apart a computer. The sensor board has to be removed in order to detach the cable.

You are going to need hex precision tool set and torx precision tool set.

thanks guys. Does the cable have to be soldered to the board or does it use a little connector?

Thanks again

Theres a little connector, similar to a fan connector on a PC motherboard. So you can remove the cable and take care of it.
