Not an optical test of a lens, a customer service test, for a change.

It appears that Leica has a novel approach of not responding to customer enquieries, including their local distributor ADEAL, if a customer has purchased a PL modified lens (Van Diemen conversion).

After several months, they finally responded, but refused sale of ANY spare parts. I mean, they would not even sell me a lens cap for a DIFFERENT lens (I tried several people and generic enquiery). Has anyone encountered such practices?

Does anyone know if they are still in business? Snajin might know. :crying:

This industry has some of the best customer oriented companies I've ever had a preasure to deal with. Arri, RED, Lentequip, AbelCine come to mind.

Leica on the other hand...

Pawel,

set you are talking were converted by Van Diemen from original Leica R lenses.

BTW, the production of Leica R lenses were discontinued couple years ago.

I do not understand why you are asking for a kind of customer service from Leica Camera AG because

they have nothing to do with any conversion of Leica lenses from any third parties.

To me more sense is to ask Van Diemen who made this conversion set !!??

leica service...

leica service...

I used to have very expensive bins from good old leitz, before they became leica... Their customer service was the worse I have ever seen, considering the reputation and the price range. By that time, there were awful news from owners of leitz telephoto lenses, saying the firm claimed no responsibility for obvious quality flaws. I don't know what happened since... I have moved to zeiss then to swarovski when I have had to get new bins.

Leica is one of the oldest and greatest photo still camera and lens makers.

Also still could not get what the hell Pawel is talking about???

BTW, by asking original maker for help you can't expect repair or service of any product that was already converted or changed by other manufacturer.

But anyway here is the link:

Let me state this again:

I mean, they would not even sell me a lens cap for a DIFFERENT lens

I want a stock standard rear lens cap for f---ing Leica lens. How difficult this is? Why would thrid parties have them?

I wanted to buy a rear lens cap for NOT converted Leica Apo-Telyt R lens. :mad2:

Apparently, because I have bought OTHER lenses converted, Leica and their dealers won't deal with me.

Makes total sense!!!!
You have immorally fiddled with the great Leicaness.
It says so on the box:
I am the central Scrutinizer.
If thou thinkst dirty thoughts on Leica convertability, thou art doomed.

I am sure I read that somewhere...

Hi!

My recommendation would be to speak with this gentleman - I'm pretty sure he can fix ANY problem with Leica Lenses (how long it will take is anyone's guess though):
