  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Leica Zoom (Rare) + EPIC -X + Wooden Camera AB mount...

Hoping Leica's new facility makes glass like this more available (and affordable)

Affordable definitely not but likely more available...

Keep always in mind that Germans that rule EU want to get well paid for its own quality products...

Although Leica had or still have one facility in Portugal...

Leica glass does have that quality to pull its viewer in, keep in mind these are handheld motion stills so there maybe a bit of that apparent.

For some reason in redcine these images are way sharper with a lot more detail in the puppy fur but when I make tiff exports they appear softer. Anyways, a few more of Oliver. EPIC + Leica zoom 35-70. These images looked good right out of the gate, the image did not gain anything from messing about post settings and thats a good feeling.

Must be the JPG, even if 600kB+, some detail has to be lost, right? How 'bout them 2k frames you promised, Haskell..? ;) Really like the second frame btw. Looks like the flares wouldn't pull too much in gentle motion across the frame, even before dark objects. Anywho, love Leica on M-X! Thank you for anything you get around to posting here.

Thank Roberto! Yeah they still seem soft even the full Rez exports compared to the raw, but that's expecte I suppose. I am afraid no high Rez stuff until I get a proper Internet connection, atm I am using iPhone as my hotspot! More to come.

Man that's a good looking image, Leica comments aside, all your compositions are very... human. Captivating but with no stylized goop, just life observed, beautifully. Enjoy that countryside

Nice pics.. So how is the handling, does it breathe much ? Mechanically it should be good. Is there imageshift while focussing ? The focus throw does not seem long though.
Thanks for posting...

Thanks Ryan, I am just adapting to this country life which is pulling me in so I am glad the images reflect that.

Mechanically speaking it feels like a high end stills zoom, like a canon perhaps but optically it surpasses. The barrel is not too short, could be longer... I will test tomorrow the breathing...its minimal from what I noticed and I have yet to see an image shift while focussing. I will post more when I have time and learn more about the lens.

Hey tom, yes its pretty slick...I am LOVING the AB bricks, nice form factor and travel safe. Also wooden camera mount is quick and simple, I can click this on and off as you would a redmote etc. edit..needs a shorter power cable from AB mount to camera, but i suppose someone could cut and wire that for me. Ryan at WC said this is the length the AB mounts come in and some times its handy to have the extra length.

Hey folks, lots of shooting underway. Full rez tiffs are just not possible at the moment as I dont have highspeed internet and using my phone to post these compressed stills, eventually I can do but for the moment I can continue sharing stills.

This image is a POV of a soldier creeping through a frosted field, the old condensation on the glass trick really made things a bit foggier...and I did a little alchemy, and curve with REDcine.

Even foggier...just experimenting with in camera effects (my favorite kind) and this is a still from motion so its a touch blurry. I graded again in redcinexpro.

Talk about gothic horror....these locations are just surreal. This is the home of Dali and Gala. Leica zoom, dolly left to right...motion still.
