sweet baby Jesus...that is a nice collection.

Greg, due to the volatility of the camera market and their short life span, we have decided to invest mostly in lenses as they retain their value and are not heavily discounted when it comes to rentals.

Nice collection Carlos. Is it possible to come by for testing?

IMO, the Leica Cs are the best Cine primes ever made.

Cheers - #19

Shooting my current movie with the summiluxes. The best lenses I have ever used.

Why... ? is it simply the great ballance of speed, weight, lack of colour fringing, great erganomics and the leica brand?? Love to see a few more concrete examples if anyone has anything.

Well Will, Yep, I have. I just like Leica better. It is all a matter of taste, but after testing almost all lenses available (Cooke S4, S4 Mini and S2 and S3, Zeiss UP's MP's, Standards, SS's, CP2's, Canon Stills glass, Nikon Stills glass and some more) and shooting with Zeiss for 15 years I have converted. It is a mix of how sharpness rolls into unsharpness, contrasty but not harsh, no CA, no flare, no breathing, compact size, mechanics, everything). The only thing that came close, though I have only used them twice years ago, were the Panavision Primo's (which were also made by Leitz Canada if I recall correctly). Test for yourself, let me know what you think.

I think they are the best lenses I ever used, the bokeh is beautiful wide open & zero breathing.

Have to agree with Nick about the how the Leica's manage to resolve so much detail without ever looking edgy or harsh.

Mechanics, design, everything is just so right on - an absolute joy to work with.

Another thing I really like about them is their lack of a strong personality. Via Cinematography choices you can take them with you to just about any look you desire with oodles of real picture information for post.

No images, as the only gigs I've done with them were the kind where leaking footage would get my ass in a sling, sorry.

THANKS Mick. I definately have to give these lenses a test before I purchase a Master Prime set.

How is the rental market for Summileux C's?

They are beautiful lenses. Used them recently on a Titleist golf ad. Not sure if the ad has come out yet. They certainly hit a lot of the checkboxes people have on their features list. The thing is, I'll never own them so I just have to enjoy the time spent with them on rentals.
