I guess in RCX you can use 0 saturation but still adjust the RGB color sliders and starting with something like 30% Red, 60% Green, 10% blue to get a much richer B+W conversion.

Yes Bob, you can use the RGB sliders to bias things.

You can also just use the channel mixer out to monochrome (weighting RGB to something like 60/20/20 percent). Not sure how you would go about this in RCX or resolve.

Resolve has the RGB mixer, which is the same as a channel mixer.
