Amazing!!!

Leica-R has very impressive range of zooms from the latest generation and also Apo-Telyt-R modular tele lens system 280-800mm is very attractive.

Also to mention that there is still place that somebody could fuel a sort of investment (investor money) to make them all true cine lenses.

Leica camera AG is a shareholder company anyway and that could be a real chance for somebody who is looking to invest in the future of digital cinema lenses,...

They recently stopped making Apo-Telyt R modular system because it was not economical. These lenses are amazing, almost as sharp as Master Primes and I love the creamy bookeh they create. They are very high contrast lenses, even by Leica standards. I just shot some charts for Imatest ... very impressive lens, indeed. I doubt there would be big enough market for them as they are terribly expensive to make and not very practical due to heavy weight.

Ev, I may like to go down to Shippies with this beast in February ...plus 30kg Ronford sticks and head ... 10km walk each way... :)

I have a Leica Apo Telyt system, its is just fantastic. We use a x1 focus unit and Leica Apo x1.4 and x2 multipliers converted to PL. Les Bosher did the work on the lenses. I cannot speak highly enough about it.

Dave, how do you find 2x focusing unit....I have a massive head and tripod and I can see lens vibrations at a mosquito fart with 1.4x already ... I think 800mm is unusable.

When using a 1x focus unit and 2x doubler so get get to use this Id use a Ronford 2015 head and Ronford Heavy weight legs. Its OK when static and no wind. Even moving on the ground next to is can be an issue, but any 800mm set up isnt going to be easy unless is got some sort of IS system for it. May be the best solution is to shoot and stabilise in post if you have to remove any vibration. However its still by far the best fixed focal length lens system there is.
