Have a quick question that maybe someone on here can answer.

A friend of mine did event coverage of a club. The club then used the edit for social media advertising, on different platforms. One part of the edit focuses on a girl that was in the club that I guess didn't want to be seen in that environment, and she is saying she never gave consent to be on video and wants the video taken down. I don't really know whats going to happen with that situation, but it made me wonder, how does that work when it comes to events? Since its private property inside a venue does that forgoe release form requirements? educate me thanks.

See this .... it might give you a better understanding of the issues involved (depending upon where you / the club are located).

As an aside, in being involved in the production and filming of commercial events in the U.S. (California) we always use written releases that give us the right to record/film the person AND to use and exploit their image /likeness / voice for commercial purposes. I remember one trendy / high-end club event that we filmed and the organizers had everyone who signed a release (beforehand) wear one color phlorescent bracelet and those who didn't sign (who didn't want to be filmed) wear another color bracelet. Made it easier to both shoot and edit.
