Based on Ketch's description and commitment to LEDz, I thought I'd order a couple to check them out. Ketch is always fast to respond to any questions and has been a great help.

I received the BEST service from Malcolm. He absolutely bent over backwards to accommodate me, going way beyond the call of duty. He answered emails within minutes on weekends and even Fed Exed me a power supply while on the NAB floor when there was a slight issue.

The Brute9s are great. Full metal construction, very sturdy and with a lamp life expectancy of 41 years or something, a real set-and-forget solution.

Have to wait to get back to Australia to really check them out but so far so good and Ketch has never steered us wrong.

Just wanted to spread the word that these guys are legit and really stand behind their product.

Very Red-Friendly!

Cheers,

Jim

I really dont understand the appeal of these lights, they are worthless naked and would require at least two sets of diffusion or double bounce to be usable. The units we evaluated had no switch and each unit required a separate power supply. w/o diffusion they are very harsh and create multiple shadows due to the design.

I plan to always use them with diffusion. They have a DMX box that allows multiple units to be connected to a single power supply and also dim. .

The switch is on the extension cable, definitely there.

I'm not sure whether I'll use them for subject lighting, I'll probably use kinos for that. But I'm hoping they will work well for backgrounds/fill and general use, not to mention with the RED battery. Just seem like portable low-heat low draw lights would be a good thing to have in the kit.

I found it useful for table-top and packshots. Also suitable for mounting on R1 body and powering it from batteries :-)
