I'm getting interested in doing a little more video work and thinking about selling my photo strobes and switching to continuous lighting full time.

Many of the lights I've looked at I've been very disappointed by how few light modifiers are available - sometimes one proprietary softbox in one size.

So I'm looking at lights which accept one of the strobe head standards. So far I've found the Westcott Skylux (accepting Bowens S) and Hive Wasp 100c (accepting Profoto, even better). But the Skylux has absurdly massive tripping hazard external ballasts that are a total dealbreaker and the 100c seems to skew oddly yellow at Daylight balance (trade-off for its cool multi-color capability, I guess, which isn't something I need). Also they're both probably more than I'm hoping to spend - though I'm flexible on that.

Anyone know of any others?

I just got 2 Aputure 120d and 2 Aputure 300d LED lights. I am buying a ton of gels & modifiers - Skylight, china ball, 6x6, softbox, 1x4 softbox, fresnel, barndoors. Very flexible system and bright. My problem has always been wanting more power.

I'm thinking about the Aputure's, but the 300d is pretty expensive for a single-color-temp light. The 120d is a more reasonable price point but 6000K instead of ~5600K is a turn-off.

I'm seriously considering giving the Paul C Buff Digibee strobes a shot. They've got a 75W Daylight LED modeling light *and* a 320ws strobe for $350. And PCB has a wonderful unified controller you can control up to I think 16 of them with, as opposed to juggling a ton of separate and clunky remotes like a lot of the cheaper cine-focused lights. And if the build quality is at all like their slightly more expensive Einstein strobes (which I've used since they came out), it's LIGHT YEARS beyond cine-focused LEDs around this price such as Genaray and Dracast. I've read that the Digibee fans are too loud for motion work (which is understandably not a design priority since it's primarily a strobe), but that sort of thing can be subjective.
