I just thought I would pass along my experience with RED's newly partnered leasing company, Southern California Leasing. I purchased an Epic with accessories and the experience was great. This is now my 4th camera lease, and while my previous leases were business transactions this time it felt personal. In the future my leasing business will be going through this company. Their absolute personal attention to any issues you might have certainly put me at ease. I am not surprised that RED chose this company to refer their leasing customers to. JUST A GREAT EXPERIENCE.
thanks

I had a wonderful experience with So Cal as well, They were so nice, professional and kept me notified daily until the last piece was delivered. A TRUE CLASS ACT .. I had initially tried to work with Mark Smith at West Bay Financial and when the lease was sent to be signed it was incomplete. WB Financial is shady and underhanded CROOKS..

Anyone from Canada with experience dealing with SLC?

Do they do Arri leases too (lmfao okay bad joke!)

my strategy is just to max out my credit card and desperately try to pay it off before interest starts usually...but boy does it suck lol! I'm gonna go to city bank sometime this month to try and get a card with their 18 month no interest cards to transfer my dragon update on to... so far i've skirted paying any interest using these deals, but i am running out of deals to use soon and weary of getting too many cards so locking in a fixed interest deal wouldn't be so bad...

out of curiosity what kind of fixed rates do they offer? wonder how much data they would need too like business wise thats another reason i haven't gone that route yet i almost have a years worth of rental data to show, but not quite yet and dragon i think will rent completely better then MX did (at least at first) so i am hopeful more data on dragon would cook the books better in my favor...

but seriously you think they do alexas or flex 4ks lol? or maybe i'd get glass... something that covered dragon...

I can attest to their cordiality. And the interest rate they quoted seemed reasonable to me but I don't know if it is the same for every applicant. In the end they appear to want a history of ROI which for me didn't work since I don't rent my cameras.

But like you, I've gotten a couple of cc offers with varying periods of interest-free purchases or transfers from other cards. For the most part I should be able to pay off the charges before the totals start drawing interest. This works better for me than doing the lease, actually.

But doing a lease can allow one to leverage more gear so I say give them a call if you are interested. I suggest going to their website and filling out the application from there. Very easy and quick app to fill out. The worst that can happen is they say no... and even if they do that, they will do it in a nice way. '-)

as much as i really would love to leverage some more stuff, i think i should wait for more data...plus i'd like to go into one of those agreements with nothing on any credit cards and no more student loans over my head (which i can pull off in only a couple months more of waiting)...i think showing up their with zero debt when i apply is probably the way to go and can only make the equations more favorable

Could be true, but I actually had zero debt at the time I applied. When that fell through is when I reverted to my first option, which was credit cards. And like I said before, it's turning out to have been best for me as I can likely pay off the debts before any interest applies.

Still, lease to own is an option best suited for some.

yea 18 months with citibank is a long time, or 12 with bank of america (i have only used the latter deal so far)... i think the leases can open up probably significantly more cash though i would imagine, and if the rate is fixed it makes for easy math on what the costs are, versus the credit card route with variable rates you could end up in a bag of hurt at much higher rates if we don't pay it in time...haven't screwed up yet though so far, so i'm skirting by interest free for the moment as well... I imagine they want at least a year of data for the lease. Previously I was talking to Abelcines finance department and I think I sent a message to these guys too but the upgrade prices on Reds are so low its not really necessary for me to lease those. reckon i'm gonna get something really fancy when i do enter a lease, like a long term deal on some glass or whatever this high speed red camera is going to be...what i'd like to do is really just have the line of credit there for when i think market conditions are right to pounce on something... like say an alexa 4k, something very solid rental wise...carbon dragon would of been a good one had it been set up then...but i can wait for reds high speed camera to get it right next time around i guess...

I've been leasing with Barbara at SoCal for 14 years. I recommended to her that she should meet with RED after getting my Epic through SoCal. So, I'm directly responsible for the good news ;)

Has anyone upgraded from Scarlet to EPIC with SoCal Leasing?

Is it a smooth process?

What if you wanted to add some other items from RED and from other vendors?

Counting my chickens before I drop the eggs :)

I'm curious about this to and what all that entails... Any thoughts here?
