When I put on a RED zoom, the camera doesn't show LDS info. If I restart the camera the LDS info appears, but if I change the lens to another Red Zoom the LDS info disappears, unless I restart the camera again.

Is there something I am missing here?
Can I get the info on screen without restarting the camera?

I think I read that if the i/data interface gets no data or bad data it shuts the interface down. So you have to deselect and then reselect the lens data option if the lens isn't attached on bootup.

I've heard that you can upgrade the firmware on Red zooms, I'm not sure if that would correct your problem.

Personally I found the LDS highly unreliable and although it displays without problems on my camera, I rarely take the data seriously as it varies wildly - especially the focal length.

So that people that might face this at some point too find the answer, I came back to the post I started to let them know how to fix it:

System --> Setup --> Remote

make sure Remote Port is set at S4/i. checkmark on Lens Port. Sometimes it takes a couple of heartbeats before the info appears. Do not panic :)

But I still don't understand why my R1 does not write LDS info into the metadata or if it does where/how to retrieve it... it would seem kind of pointless if it doesn't (displays but does not record it, I mean) but I couldn't find it so far.

Sorry, every time this gets bumped, I keep thinking that the question should be forwarded to Salt Lake City :)

(No, I am not LDS :) )

As soon as I saw it in the main section thats what instantly sprang to mind. ;)

To OP sorry not something I have ever noticed happening. Does it happen everytime you change?
