I had entertained the notion of controlling Scarlet with the Redmote only. I asked for opinions as to the reliability of Redmote and was told I'd better think twice about that idea. So I'm back to needing either the Touchscreen or Side Handle. I don't plan on powering with Redvolts. Power doesn't last long enough. Going V-Mount. I already have a 5.6" TV Logic Monitor which far exceeds the RED 5" Touchscreen in every performance and feature capability when it comes to being a reference monitor. So I just want to control the camera in the most efficient, RELIABLE way. I like bullet proof, things that don't get flaky, won't work because it is dirty, or too sunny. Opinioin, por favor?

I have the same TVLogic, and I ended up going with the side handle in case I have a situation where powering off of a RedVolt comes up, or I want/need to use the camera in stills mode for a commercial/music video for a special effect. Could also be helpful for shooting background plates in a remote location... it adds versatility where the touchscreen, as you said, adds nothing really that your TVLogic cannot provide.

I'm a side-handle Lover - but the same kind of control efficiency can be achieved with the redmote when its on the camera body.

As of version 2.02 beta my redmote and Epic M work great together - the interface and protocol seems to be getting more and more refined. If I were to do a shoot in a remote place and I was told I could only have a redmote and a body I'd feel comfortable doing that.

Really Dan? That would be great! Can you tell me, when the Redmote is "on the camwera" as you say, is there a physical, electrical connection, non-wireless? So you remove the issues of range or interference? Can the Redmote be placed on the camera this way if I'm using a third-party v-mount on the back of the Scarlet?
