LCD Maintenance

I recently did a shoot and it was pouring rain and the camera and large Red LCD monitor were bagged but the LCD screen got wet and now has a whitish smudge across the screen. Tried to wipeit clean with limited success and I am unwilling to scrub aggressively. What is the correct procedure for cleaning the LCD?
