LCD LEMO cable is tricky

Does anyone else have difficulty disconnecting the LEMO cable from the back of the LCD screen? One of our cameras just came back from its first show and the back port on the LCD was loose because the AC on set obviously had a hard time removing the cable and had to wiggle it. The pull back spring on the cable just seems to suck.

RED tightened the LCD port and got it back to us very quickly, but they just seem to nod about our observation of the cable.

Looking for any input anyone might have.

I'd venture that the AC actually didn't understand how LEMO works and pulled it from the cord itself. I've had to show clients more than once how they work.... it pays to be an on set DIT/camera tech in these early days of the camera being used by people who have never seen it before. Because of that we've had zero issues like this.

The cable that came with the LCD is problematic. The Lemo connector on one end of the cable does a poor job of retracting the latches when the collar is pulled back and it does get stuck in the LCD. The Lemo at the other end of the cable, as well as both ends of the cable that came with the EVF, retract the latches completely and release smoothly.

This is possible, but I've had to be extra careful with my cable because it doesn't depress very smoothly and does get stuck as Clint has described.

I agree that the people using the equipment must have knowledge of what they are using, but aside from being with the camera every waking moment, it's reassuring to see that other people acknowledge the poor release function of the LCD LEMO cable. Anyone know if there are any third party vendors that make these cables, so they might release easier?

If not, it might be a good thing for a company to make.

LEMO is a precision locking connector, with moving parts. If the nose of the shell is damaged or out of round, or dirt gets between the release sleeve and the latching sleeve it will be difficult to remove. The only solution to effect a proper repair is replace the shell. Connectors can be damaged by being dropped on concrete, slammed in cases, stepped on, drug, etc...

There are other manufacturers of connectors that will mate with the LEMO, yes cheaper in price, but I feel in quality also (my personal opinion). I have tested the others, and have always gone back to the LEMO. I've not had a problem with LEMO mating with LEMO, but have run into the other brands not mating 100% from time to time.

I also had problems with the "straight" side of the LCD LEMO, to the extent that the cornered side ALWAYS have to go into the body. If it's stuck, I'd rather want it to be stuck to the LCD than the cam...

we can supply free samples for you to test ,it is the same as lemo"s,but cheaper than them.

In the past I've found the right angle end of both the LCD and EVF cable a bit tricky to disengage from the camera body. What I have noticed is that the back of the connector (hexagon cap) is a bit too tight. Simply loosening it up just a bit on both cables made them connect and disconnect with no problem.
