I was on a shoot the other day and during a winter beach scene my LCD had Blue Mirrored Ghost of all people in the shot. From the the top of the LCD screen you would see a blueish waistline down image of who ever was in front of the lens. As the people moved across the screen the leg images would follow right above their heads. Has anyone ever had this happen to them before?

We were running B17, 4K 16:9 with Red 18-50 facing NE at about 4pm, running on battery to HD. We tried polarizer, IR's and ND's, but nothing eliminated the problem.

I'd appreciate any thoughts or ideas.
Thanks.

DId you see if the footage recorded the blue ghost that you saw? Do you have an EVF to compare with the the LCD. Was it just that shot, or were there other instances when you had this happen?

No we were shooting a one take opportunity scene and could risk it. So we changed to a super speed and it went away.

Never saw this before on any shot with this camera/lens combo.

So the super speed made the blue mirrored ghost go away? Hmm almost sounds like you were experiencing chromatic abberation, but at an escalated level. I have never experienced that sort of fringing with the 18-50. It's also weird in that you were facing NE so that means the subject was not backlit. It's too bad you don't have any footage of the actual fringing, it's really peaked my interest as to what it could be. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but glad you got it figured out on set.

Thanks Stefan. I've never seen anything close to this. Maybe it was the high contrast between the people and the snow/ice covered lake with a white sky and a band of black trees running horizontally through the frame. The DIT on set said he'd seen something like it before but that if recorded it would not show up in the recorded image.

I'm surprised no one else has had this issue before with the variety and longevity experience at this site. But thanks again for the thoughts.
