  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Laowa Proteus 2x Anamorphic

After my previous comments, I have seen the lenses at NAB and after researching classic anamorphics as well as some newer options, particularly zooms, I completely forgot that Laowa also makes a 1.4x Full Frame Expander and that I purchased one not too long ago for this specific reason! With so much S35 glass out there and many new full frame video cameras coming out all the time, you need at least one expander just to not miss out on some really cool S35 lens options.

With that in mind, I'm eager to see examples of the Proteus lenses with the 1.4x expander combination with some Full Frame cameras (maybe Sony Venice 2 and Arri LF?) to see the differences, trade-offs, etc. and I am very much considering them for a future project now that I know I don't have to worry about Full Frame coverage!

I have personally projected them and they look really good. I will have some footages ready.

Wow those have some really nice character and still look great on sides of frame. Good stuff. So glad the neutral flair colors are becoming more popular.
