Those who know me know I have been skateboarding for quite a long time and always post skate related shoots and productions I work on or just think are inspirational.
I did not work on this shoot with Ty,Spike and Marc but would think it would fit well being shot on RED as the production value , spx and just the whole thing comes together really well.
The Color was done at Bandito Brothers(Andrew Huebscher) who if any of you have been skateboarders even from the 90'S know who Jacob Rosenberg is and his contributions to skateboarding (Plan B videos to name a few)
So enjoy

Lakai Skate and Create 2010
Dir: Ty Evans
Ex Produced: Spike Jonze
DP: Marc Ritzema
Artist: Ima Robot "Ruthless"
Format: RED MX, 5D and 7D

The look and execution is very good. I have been skateboarding forever it seems and have always kept up with Spike/Ty/Meza videos. I am surprised they went this route for this contest though as they have been toying with fire and explosions for awhile. First in Hot Chocolate and then in Fully Flared. They are always pushing the cinematic boundaries in skateboarding, that's for sure. For the old skateboarders though, I really got hyped on the Etnies skate and create entry.

It looks great. I remember watching 411 and other skateboard movies on VHS back in the days before DVD really hit the streets. The first one I saw was 'Mouse' (Girl skateboards - Spike Jonze) and it was fantastic!

For those interested, this shoot was covered in the October 2010 edition of American cinematographer. Lot's of info there.

In total there were up to 6 camera's rolling to capture the tricks from different angles. Ritzema used a Red One (shooting 100 fps with the Mysterium-X chip), a Canon EOS 5D MKII (at 24 fps), two Canon EOS 7Ds (at 60 fps), a Rebel T2i (variable fps), and a Panasonic AG-HVX200 (variable fps), shooting coverage from different angles.
