Have you folks seen this Exoskeleton from a French company called L'Aigle?

They make steadi-cam rigs but will be offering this too. Their aim is $2000US. Have a look at what they showed off to IBC and Newsshooter.

I like the price.

Here's the manufacturer's website:

Will - far too expensive!! I need this for under $400, so I can for it with my paper route.

How about we just buy some of these at Canadian Tire:

And then follow along with this exercise video:

There! Bulked you up so you can go all day & saved you a few grand. ;)

On a far more serious note...

I like where all of this is headed, and can't wait to see how some operators take the time to nail down how this gear all works together. In the hands of a patient operator who is willing to take the time to learn, practice and nail these exoskeleton / gimbal combos - footage should look great.

In the video, he is just relaxing in chair holding the Ronin. This looks pretty awesome. I like the freedom of movement as he reaches across his body and the fact that he can get out of the contraption without any help. Hmmm... the exoskeleton wars begin.

Hahaha. Thanks Glen. Still, cheaper then the Slingshot or Action Products. At my age, all I want is a hammock!

I think the bungie cables versus metal coils would be great since they probably weigh less.

This product looks good but the Runner by action products looks WAY less bulky, and only a couple grand more. Just an observation. That dude is big in the video also, not sure that vest would fit me correctly

I agree, this is the ideal product for a group buy.

I have already contacted L'aigle about doing a group buy for us.

I love that they've been in business since 2003, so we will have none of the problems associated with fledgling companies.

I like the iso-elastic bands for the exoskeleton... They sort of mimic muscle. While bulkier than the Runner, I like the way it form fits around the body. The guy is totally relaxed, sitting in a chair. This will be great for shooting in boats, back of trucks etc.

I also really like how the user can take it off by himself. No help needed.

I will update with details of a possible group buy ASAP.

Its getting crazy! Bionic cameramen ;)

What's the dude in the back doing and why does he need a robosuit? That's some funny stuff Jay.

Come on. He is the second operator and controlling the gimbal remotely. He needs to be on the robonoid to run as fast as the main gimbal operator.

On a serious note, can someone explain to me, now that steadicam style arms are being added to a gimbal setup - why not just use a steadicam in the first place? Even this guy says in the newsshooter video that a steadicam is more intuitive to operate...seems to me we already have a solution in place for over 30 years and are now reinventing the wheel? The only thing he said that you can do with his setup that you can't with a steadicam is pass off the gimbal to another operator..who would also wear one of these exoskeleton vests I presume.

Personally , this is more my speed than a Steadicam. More freedom of movement, more versatile... I don't like contending with the wind or limiting the speed I can run with while keeping the horizon.
