  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

LaCie 4TB 4big Quadra

Honestly, and I really hate to put negative energy into the world, but I/we have some serious beef with Lacie. Not so much the products themselves, but their service and over all attitude towards their customers. I used to defend them, I think because I had been really lucky. But that luck ran out in the last year or so and the company has failed us more than their products.

G-tech has been good, but I would also highly recommend CalDigit. These guys really care about their users and their stuff is bomb-proof.

I've had a bunch of customers report LaCie drive failures. I don't hear as many complaints about other drives. Hitachi is the most recommended drive that I hear of.

woah man! I guess that answers the lacie question. I personally have never had a problem with mine but I have the older 250gb drives (you know the porsche design) of yesteryear. You could always get a drobo. Leo Laport is like the go-to tech guy and he's always raving about the reliability of drobo. www.drobo.com/macbreak (for discount)

I do not work for drobo, nor do I own one, but if I was looking for more hard drive space I would go this route.

Leo would recommend a product by any company that pays him money. He's got to pay the bills like everyone.
