When I had one camera it was pretty easy to keep track of stuff, but now with 4 Epics plus lots of lenses and hundreds of associated parts, I need a new system. I'd like to set up with those little barcode stickers so each thing has its own identity and it's painless to check-in, check-out. Any thoughts or advice?

Thanks!
Adam

Perhaps an inventory based Quicken style program that can print bar code labels

Great topic. I too would be interested in such a system. I am sure that there is an app for the new/old iPhone that will read linear barcodes or the newer 2D matrix codes. There are certainly hundreds of printers that can print the code on an adhesive label. The last piece is an inventory system that can use the data from a code reader( or iPhone) and generate inventory reports.

I bet there may even be some freeware programs out there that are standalone, or free progs that come with a code reader. Anybody have some answers?

Make sure the printer can print permanent ink vinyl labels. Paper + toner = shit

Thanks I have been looking for these.

Thanks guys, Maverick it is. What about the rest of what Michael brought up - apps for reading and managing the inventory?

So we have a good source for barcode tags now, but so far no one has stepped forward with recommendations for an app for utilizing the barcodes. Based on my inbox, it seems like lots of people are looking for the same thing. If anyone has found something good, please let us know.

Probably pretty easy to build a custom DB using Filemaker Pro. There are a lot of templates out there.

That said, haven't gotten around to doing this either ;)

But we are using Maverick labels.
