"La Pasajera" (The Passenger, 2021), feature film shot on RED & Atlas Anamorphics

My feature film debut as a director of photography is a Spanish comedy-horror film, "La Pasajera" or "The Passenger". It has been directed by a talented duo: Raúl Cerezo, with whom I had worked several times before, and Fernando González Gómez, who had previously directed an Austin Film Fest winner, "Estandar" (2020). We had a wonderful cast (Ramiro Blas, Paula Gallego, Cristina Alcázar and mexican actress Cecilia Suárez) and crew which made me very confortable during the six-week shoot.

Here's a link to the teaser trailer, which has English subs. A full trailer will follow soon. I'll post it as soon as it becomes available.

VIMEO TEASER

The film will have its premiere on October 9th on Sitges International Film Festival and should have a theatrical release in a few months.
VARIETY already covered the release: https://variety.com/2021/film/global/the-passenger-levelk-sitges-spanish-horror-1235080184/

Any comments will be appreciated!

The final trailer has already been released, not English subtitles yet, sorry. The film will have a theatrical release here in Spain from February 18th, and then will go to cinemas around the world, including the US as far as I've been told.

"The Passenger" will have a limited US theatrical release through Dark Star Pictures starting on June 3rd, followed by VOD and home video releases.
It will be part of Seattle International Film Festival and will be screened on April 21 and April 22 (I will be attending the first one).

Straight up horrific looking, in a good way.

You seen it?

Dennis Harvey at VARIETY wrote a great review of the film and he praised my work: "The clever screenplay keeps coming up with new ways to escalate the crisis, while the directors are equally deft at staging both the violent action and persistent verbal spats between stubborn characters. A particularly resourceful contributing factor is Ignacio Aguilar’s widescreen cinematography, which calls upon a variety of techniques, from deep-focus shots to diagrammatic overhead ones that are attention-getting yet always purposeful. (Incredibly, this is his first feature as DP.) Indeed, “The Passenger” is well above average in all design and tech departments. They help it arrive at a colorful, atmospheric, slightly cartoonish tone that stops short of outright horror comedy, but is not entirely to be taken seriously either."
