  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hi Zakaree, did you end up with a set of Kowa's ? You live in SoCal ? I'd love to check them out.

yah i got em.. im in socal.. im sending them to duclos soon to get worked on..

some mechanical issues on some lenses (image shift during focus on a couple of the lenses).. but they will be good as new after a dr. duclos visit

Absolutely beautifull Zakaree

Reminds me good old organic Canon FD lenses.

Antoine

im a huge fan of older organic lenses.. especially on red.
especially for features or shorts..

commercials id still stick with my zf's, as they demand sharpness and overall modern looks.

Hi Gunleik and Zakaree,

...but some older lenses are as sharp, just not as much contrast, but as much micro contrast/definition.

Me too love some killer old lenses (like Canon FDs) with the RED :)

Me too use mainly the ZFs for commercials :)

Antoine

sharp matters to me in commercials.. tv and web...

but for films.. i prefer to look as much like celluloid as possible..

and older glass (softer, lo-con) works really well to achieve this look on digital sensors..

check back in a few hours. im posting a new lens test. youll see the different looks you an produce with these kowas. I really dig them for features/shorts if you like that "indie" look.. which i do...

I agree with you,

The second part is la little too crunchy.
I like the highlight curve, but the shadows are crushed a little too much for my taste.

Beautifull look.

Thanks Sir!

Antoine

Nice look and lenses Zak :). I liked the first part too, without the Kodak LUT.
Which focal lengths did you use for your test?

im over the kodak lut.. hehe i just needed the grain, but dont have any other grain plug in.. any recommendations from anyone?

lenses used... 100mm for sure, 50mm and 40mm

I have a 20, 32, 40, 50, 75, 100 just found a 25 i might buy..
also have a 300 canon that matches really well..
