Hello all,
Up for sale is a recently, completely overhauled Kowa 40mm Anamorphic (with optional 32mm capability, more later in the post) that I just picked up from Duclos Lenses from complete, comprehensive servicing. The cylinders feature newer NOA61 UV optical cement, much better than the brittle Canada Balsam used originally. The NOA61 is much more malleable with temperature changes, so you won't get the cylinders separating (like what happened to 3 of my lenses in the winter on a car job in Colorado! OUCH!) The lens has been cleaned inside and lubed, the thread have been emraloned for no gear lash, making the focus tight as new...
Also the lens has an added focus gear and a Delrin 80mm front. (I refrained from adding an iris gear as these vintage lenses have fragile irises and I don't encourage putting a motor on them!)
Here's some pics as the lens as a 40mm:
Next, I'd like to also draw attention to an option I developed and will be selling in limited quantity (3-4 will only be available...). To make a 32mm Kowa for my sets, I created a custom-machined wide adapter that threads onto the front of the 40mm lens and turns it into a 32mm.! No light loss, minimal distortion and it's the sharpest adapter I tested out of more than a dozen... (And at great expense I might add!)
The adapter has custom machine threads on the back side that perfectly match the odd-ball 71.xxx mm threads of the front protective filter flat the original Kowas have.... You remove the filter and screw in the adapter tight. It BECOMES part of the lens, not just simply clamping on! And I found that the closer the adapter optics get to front of the lens, the better it performs and covers.
Additionally, I have machined replacement focus scales rings for the lens itself, which when turned into a 32mm can be used to have a new corrected focus scale engraved to your specific lens... Also, the adapter itself comes with a front 110mm ring for a common size to the front and a corresponding 110mm Delrin Duclos lens cap.
Price is $18,500.00 for the lens alone, $19,000.00 for the combo 32mm/40mm package. I may be selling an additional 2 remaining dapaters probably close to 1000 each once my final anodizing bill comes in.
Anyone interested, reach out to me in PM and I can answer any questions you may have.
