  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Komodo shipping?

Any idea what would be the fastest dealer to order from in Europe? (No UK)
None of the places I use to buy from can give me estimated dates and it seems a bit more chaotic than in US.

FedEx just delivered my Komodo. Pretty pumped to see what this thing can do.

Anybody getting their production pack bundles in yet from B&H (November and on orders) or just brains still coming out?

NO! I was told I'd get my Starter Pack in April. I am now being told the end of May. And I sit here watching those that ordered after me, but, ordered just the brain, get their shipments...;(
Just spoke with B&H. They tell me the bundled kits are bundled at RED, so B&H has no control or ability to ship bodies only if one orders the bundled kit. So, once again, RED is not shipping the bundled kits at the same rate as the brain.

I also order the Starter Pack and was told that it would be in the 4/14 delivery to B&H. Now they are telling me it will be in the 5/5 delivery to the warehouse. Fingers crossed it comes. My brother ordered the brain only in Nov. and has had his camera for months.

ordered 17th Nov from CVP.UK shipped today.

Waiting second camera ordered on 30th Nov from the same store.

Do we know more about the component shortage ?
I have two units that should have arrived late April, but now my reseller tells me late June at best, meanwhile I see every week on Facebook people receiving theirs with order placed after.
I only have 12 orders ahead of me, it's kinda annoying to be that close.

Did Red find a supplier for the semi-conductors ?

what date did you order?

2nd January from a EU reseller.
I read people in USA with early january getting delivered. It's annoying.
I don't mind waiting, but the time stamp should be what's important, not the country.

Where are you located, and is it a reseller order ?

Located in Norway and bought from a local dealer. We only have 1 dealer selling RED in Norway: / Rumor has it that they have only received 4 Komodo’s from RED, so I am very excited to see how long this will take!

In a perfect world, perhaps, but RED is an American company and speaking logistically alone who knows in this post 911, covid ravaged world how long something like an imaging device takes to get through customs on both sides of the pond. I would certainly expect you to receive something French made long before I did in the US if we ordered at the same time.

If it makes you feel any better I live in California and could drive to RED's headquarters in about 6 hours, yet I'm still waiting on my Komodo too.

I remember the many time stamps during the Epic Dragon upgrade "era".
Jim & Jarred said back then it was hell to organize so I can understand Red shop sales are preferred, considering the size of the US market.

TRM in France has ordered 80 Komodos and we are still waiting. I was around 50, and there are something like 10 orders before mine.
I can't imagine how long it will take if your local dealer only have received 4 orders...

Yeah, the same thing is happening here in the US, where the largest RED dealer is very likely B&H. When I last spoke with them a week or so ago, the young man told me that their last shipment had been around a dozen bodies and that was a few weeks ago. No ETA on the next shipment or how many units it will be...they just come when they come. It would only be speculation on my part but I would imagine a dealer the size of B&H in a market the size of the US would likely have amassed a wait list hundreds deep by now.

RED is playing a dangerous game here, because their more consumer focused competition have been developing some fantastic cameras and guess what, those ones are shipping.

Indeed, I would think the last "holdouts" for getting a Komodo are those a lot like us...already in the RED ecosystem owning DSMC2 and looking for Komodo to be a more specialized B cam or gimbal cam. I speculate the "wow, I can afford a RED camera!" customers have already moved on after months of waiting and now own FX6 or C70.

Just talked to B&H and they are saying that RED should give them an update on when they will be shipping the starter packs on 5/20. Nothing really solid yet but hoping we hear more the 20th.
