  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Komodo & Leitz 0.8 Lenses

Second this.

Would love to know if any of the M to RF adapters allow the lower focal lengths with the extended elements to fit on the camera (i.e. 21mm, 24mm, 35mm).

I can confirm the 35 0.8 fits just fine. Not sure about the 21 and 24, however. We're using the Novoflex adapter. We also tried the C7, which has a positive lock, but we found the fit to be too tight even though the build quality was great. Can also confirm standard still M lenses mount fine - have tried a variety Summicrons/Luxes, as well as the Zeiss Distagon 2.8/15 ZM (very wide), and a Voigtlander 50 1.2. All have mounted perfectly.

We have found the setup to be extremely light. No need for lens support as the lenses are very small and lightweight. One downside of the 0.8s (and of course the still lenses) are the shorter focus throw, as well as minimum focusing distance (most are more than 1m). Aperture ring is smooth, gearing is present, but the gearing is not in the same place across the range, so keep that in mind if you are using follow focus systems - not a huge deal, but may require some slight adjustments when changing lenses. Note that these aren't really true cine lenses - they're essentially cine-mods. Having said that, image carries the character/quality of the still M lenses and price wise are similar to the standard Leica tax. If you can find an outfit to cine-mod the third party M lenses like Zeiss, Voigtlander, MS Optics and some vintage ones, could be interesting as the cost on these are really quite affordable; not sure if Duclos does these or not.

Thanks, Wayne! Invaluable info!
