Komodo always stops recording after about five minutes

My Komodo got a bunch of firmware updates over the time. Recently I had to film a long interview with continuous recording. Normally I do only short takes. The camera unexpectedly stopped recording without crashing. I could restart recording and the camera kept interrupting the recording after around five minutes. I suspected a defect of the memory card. But the issue was the same no matter what card brand or size I tested. So I suspected a technical problem with the camera hardware itself. After a sleepless night I remembered the advice of Fuji regarding the GFX series cameras to always do a factory reset after a firmware update. Fortunately this easy task solved the problem with the Komodo immediately. Although Red does not explicitly postulates a factory reset after a firmware update this might be a good advice anyway.

Thanks for posting about this. I've been using the firmware my Komodo came with back in June, when I do an update, I'll be sure to factory reset it before next production. Thx.

Hi,

same happened to me and I couldn't recognize what's causing this to happen.
Always 45s clips - thought it's a card problem or sth, but It happened on every other card.
But then I realized that I've set frame record limit, that's why Komodo was always stopping recording at exact same rec-run time.
Factory reset could just restore it to /off/ in your case.
In mine, I turned FRL off and was good after that.
