  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Know the law's and ordinances where you film

Yeah here its rather film friendly (first time was this past weekend) that a production I was on got approached about a permit. You only need a permit when shooting in a city park, blocking off a road or shooting at the Alamo. But a down side of shooting in San Antonio is there is no infrastructure for filming 90% of rentals have to be done in Austin, I couldn't even get two REDVolts from a local sources here.

You got that right. They have an openly gay female mayor of their largest city... Houston. Their two baseball teams were led by black managers until recently. One of their pro football teams is led by a black GM. Their Governor is wheel chair bound.

They have windfarms in abundance in the midst of their oil fields... (what's up with THAT!)... and get this... Austin, their state capital is littered with official signs saying "Keep Austin Weird".

Now that you put it that way, Texas sounds like a liberal paradise.

Also, Austin has so little in common with the state of Texas that if it seceded, Rick Perry wouldn't even notice.

Except for the carpetbaggers who have moved there since the oil boom, that state is heavily infested with a bunch of weird "Oners".

LOL

Maybe the state drug should be Lithium?

In the Ordinance though 5) referring to the above listed occupations (thats a police officer friend phrased it to me) i.e.: police; military and the such.

The thing was our DP didn't have it out - only the belt clip was exposed when the officer asked him if it was in fact a "Lock" blade knife.

But if 5) is just referring to the already mentioned occupations, 5) is completely redundant because 1) does that.

Of course, there are plenty of nonsensical laws out there, and some cops who misinterpret/misuse them, but this would outlaw almost any legitimate work using a sharp edged tool on the street, unless 5) actually provides the exemption I think it does.

No, still conservative on the whole... but just like the U.S. is multi-faceted, so is Texas. Just wanted to point out that the facts may belie the stereotype.

DISCLAIMER: I do not live in Texas... they do claim boundaries that just happen to surround my small kingdom on all sides.
