  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

knock off arri light

I have a similar, maybe the same lamp from another vendor. Thus far, three globes later, the specimen I have has been fine. The black coating on the inside will tend to fry off with a bit of smoke and smell early in the peace. The black resin flood-spot control knobs on my specimen, have cracked and fallen off. I moved the rear one to the front. Guys pointing the lamp straight up into the ceiling did not help as this cooked the knobs. I temporarily replaced them with domestic household stove knobs and will see if I can track down some ARRI style knobs with sockets and pins for reach-rod adjustment.

The heavyduty rubber cable may be a bit thick for clamping holes in the in-line rocker switch casework. The switchcase is not waterproof. The four screws which fasten the switchcase halves may pull their threads and may need replacing with longer thicker screws with the screwholes needing to be drilled deeper. Once this is done the switch seems to last the distance.

I have some Ianiro 2K fresnels, used in very good condition, here in NJ for sale. They are every bit as good as Mole and Arri, perhaps better. $250 each including barn doors.
 
I have looked at these and worked with a 3 650 kit.. and they are shaped like an arri light, but do not perform or last like one.
Just not as reflective reflector, not as good photometrics overall, and more fragile..
If you need to save money , buy a used example of a better made brand...
 
When I gaffe and production supplies them, they always seem to be missing parts. Get the real thing, your G&E department won't laugh at you for buying cheap imitation that won't last long.
 
Ive been told the knock off arri hmi ballast are part for part , the arri equal, minus the hour meter, i forget the fancy name for that bulb life meter .
 
Try pyramid films , in sun valley "burbank / north hollywood ca"
they liquidate rental house ect. And always have the best deals that i have ever found,
they are alos listed as bardwell and mc callister.

ask for dave , seriously, you wont find better prices and a better used selection , anywhere that i have ever heard
