  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Kino 4x4 knock off?

Brand: KINOSUN? lol

wow, that's quite a kinoflo ripoff. Even the same font on the ballast. Doesn't seem like much of a price difference to a real kinoflo, though.

Unless I'm mistaken, it looks like you get 2 of them for the less than the price of 1 real kino flo, which seems like quite a discount to me. Dunno of it's quality though.

...Second hand experience?

Not really good or bad. I think you get what you pay for.
I would get the fluorescent fixtures before taking a risk on a 2.5k HMI. :)

They seem to be refunding peoples money if not satisfied which is good. And my only
concern is they are direct form china so that could prove to be difficult in the case of a dispute?
Not sure.

Oh you are right, not a bad deal then if they are any good.

I've worked with some of the lights like these manufactured in china. The quality was not good. Cheap ballasts in the fluorescents that were problematic. I have also met people who have purchased the HMI and wished they hadn't. Kino's last forever, buy em have em for another 10 years+. Hope this helps.

Yep- your basic 1:1 knockoff. But you're basically throwing money away on those. It will break after minimal use if it works out of the box at all. That compared to Kino kits I've seen last for years...

Looks like the Ballast is actually the real one. Looks like they photoshopped the Kino flo name away (an poorly so).

I bought 2 kinoflo 4X4 banks, and the china made ballast's and so far so good. 4 months in.

Looking at the photos again, I believe you are right. So the light pictured is a real kinoflo with some bad photoshop work. The fact that the lights pictured are not the ones that they are selling would make me nervous.

I am nervous posting among pros. But I know steven.studio's products have been discussed extensively over at DVXuser.com. I don't know the rules about posting a link so I wont. But you can search for steven.studio and kino, and probably find reviews by people who've actually bought them. Also, the dude has a 100% ebay user rating, which is pretty darn good.

Anyway, something to consider.

One quote from DVXuser.

"My Steven Studio bank selectable Flos are decent quality construction with no issues. I would not hesitate to buy more"

Hope the helps the discussion.
