Looks like the Chinese RAW Camera company is making a mini version of their S35 camera.

Looks like the Chinese RAW Camera company is making a mini version of their S35 camera.

From what they told me it would have an internal battery as well as external power, so it could run some hours hand held without cables maybe, I have yet to test that.

The KineRAW-S35 (tm) I have shoots nice looking 2048x1080 (and 1920x1080 or 1280x720) footage, but its hard to show how nice on the internet since making a JPG messes up the subtle image tones and details, its very hard to get anything into H.264 for showing on Vimeo that looks near what the uncompressed version looks like, Cineform (tm) YUV is better for PC playback of graded shots done from uncompressed DI.

The larger version can record Cineform (tm) "raw" which is similar to REDCODE (tm) but they are using the Cineform (tm) "raw" in its higher quality setting range. Both Cineform (tm) and DNG 100% uncompressed can be recorded both at the same time in the larger version, for the smaller one, the DNG can be converted to Cineform (tm) "raw" in software with a fast transcode time, if you want Cineform (tm) for proxy editing or just to use and then archive the DNG in case they are needed for some shots with poor exposure etc.

They say the S16 and S8 models are still in the works, I used the S8p (p for prototype 2592 pixel wide sensor) for generating test footage with, hopefully the re-designed S8 will be jell-o and skew "free" as well as smaller and lower cost etc...

Anyway, they plan on being in their booth if you want to stop by and make comments...
