I put up our first Kickstarter Marketing video last night. I'm doing a whole series of these. There has been a lot of talk here about crowdfunding so it may be of interest to some of you.

Glad to do it. I definitely plan on getting into all that. Still lots to do though. Only half in the can. I plan to cover our workflow and vfx in detail too. I also plan on covering where I screwed up and had to fix things :)

Here's a little video we did a few months ago featuring one of our backers. He had a small role in the film.

It was a Kickstarter offer and I wasn't planning on opening it up again, but since a lot of people have asked and we certainly could use some more money for the film I added 16 spots for a total of 60 people. Existing backers can upgrade by paying the difference.

My buddy Matt and his crew are about to wrap up the most successful Kickstarter film/video campaign ever (search VGHS on Kickstarter), with nearly 10,000 backers and 750k in pledges. What is amazing is that they have a weekly audience of over a million on their YouTube channel (Freddiew), and over 40 million combined views for their first season of VGHS and still could only get roughly 10,000 people to support it. What a strange new world of filmmaking :p

Yeah, that's a great example of what is possible with crowdfunding! They have a 7 year-old YouTube channel with 4.6 million subscribers and almost 800 million views and they pay for their series Video Game Highschool (VGHS) with Kickstarter. For Season 1 they raised $273,725 and now with their current campaign, which ends in 7 hours, they are at $764,251 (!!!). For Season 3 I'm sure they'll pass $1 million on Kickstarter if they go the same route.
